Managing customers
Customer records hold the contact details that valuations, certificate emails and the customer portal rely on.
Adding a customer
- From Customers in the sidebar, select Add Customer, or
- On the valuation wizard's Customer step, select Create new customer (first name, last name and email).
A full record holds first and last name, email, phone, address (line 1 and 2, city, county, postcode) and notes. Staff, managers, admins and owners can add and edit customers; viewers can look but not change.
Finding a customer
Search on the Customers page, or on the wizard's Customer step, by name or email. Open a customer to see their details and their valuations, and to edit them.
Why the email address matters
- Email Certificate sends to the email address on the customer record.
- The customer portal finds a customer's valuations by that same address.
Importing a list
Managers, admins and owners can import customers from a CSV file:
- On Customers, select Import.
- Select Download Template for a CSV with the right column headings:
first_name,last_nameandemailare required;phone,address_line1,address_line2,city,county,postcode,countryandnotesare optional. - Drop your file into the window (CSV only, up to 10 MB) and select Import.
A customer whose email address is already on file counts as a duplicate. Skip duplicate records (on by default) leaves them untouched; switch it off and tick Update existing records if found to overwrite their details from the file instead. With both off, each duplicate is listed as an error and left unchanged. When the import finishes you see how many rows were imported, skipped or rejected, with the row number and reason for each rejected row.
Customers from Shopify orders
If you turn on automatic valuations for Shopify orders, the draft valuation copies the order's customer name and email when Shopify includes them. See Valuation drafts from Shopify orders.
