How to create your first valuation

Creating Your First Valuation

Welcome to Jewel Value! This guide will walk you through creating your first jewelry valuation.

Step 1: Navigate to Valuations

Click on Valuations in the sidebar, then click the New Valuation button.

Step 2: Select the Customer

Search your existing customers by name or email and click to select. If the customer isn't in your database yet, use Create new customer — you'll be returned to the wizard after saving. On the same step, choose the item source, valuation purpose, and your store location.

Step 3: Select Item Type

Choose the type of jewelry you're valuing:

  • Rings
  • Necklaces
  • Earrings
  • Bracelets
  • Watches
  • Loose diamonds
  • Gemstones

Step 4: Enter Item Details

Depending on the item type, enter the relevant details:

For Diamond Jewelry

  • Shape
  • Carat weight
  • Color grade
  • Clarity grade
  • Cut grade
  • Certification (if available)

For Gemstone Jewelry

  • Gemstone type
  • Origin
  • Treatment
  • Carat weight

For All Items

  • Metal type and purity
  • Hallmarks
  • Description
  • Retail value

Step 5: Add Photos

Upload clear photos of the item:

  • Full item view
  • Close-up of any gemstones
  • Hallmarks and stamps
  • Any distinctive features

Step 6: Submit and Approve

Once all details are entered:

  1. Review the information on the final step
  2. Click Submit Valuation — the valuation moves to *Pending Review*
  3. A manager (or above) approves it from the valuation page
  4. After approval, click Generate Certificate to create the PDF, then

download it or email it to the customer

Tips for Accurate Valuations

  • Always examine items under proper lighting
  • Use calibrated measuring tools
  • Cross-reference with current market prices
  • Include any relevant certifications
