Entering item details

Step 2 of the valuation wizard collects the description that heads the certificate.

Required

• Item Category: Jewellery, Watch, Loose Gemstone, Antique / Vintage, Collectible or General Item. See Item categories in the valuation wizard.
• Title: a short summary, for example "Platinum Diamond Eternity Band".
• Description: the distinctive features someone would need to recognise the item.
• Condition: New / Unworn, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair or Poor.

Optional

• Brand / Maker
• Period / Era — useful for antique and vintage pieces
• Serial Number
• Condition Notes — wear, repairs or damage worth recording

Tips

• Write the description so the customer could pick out the item from the certificate alone.
• Keep the language factual; a certificate is a professional record.
• Note any documents you've seen, for example "Original receipt dated 2018 sighted".
