Entering Item Details

Step 2 of the new-valuation wizard collects the descriptive metadata that ends up on the certificate.

What's required

  • Item title: short summary that appears at the top of the certificate (e.g. "Platinum Diamond Eternity Band")
  • Type: the jewellery type — drives template selection
  • Condition: New / Excellent / Very Good / Good / Fair / Poor
  • Description: free-text 2–3 sentence summary of distinctive features

Optional but encouraged

  • Item reference: your internal stock number, if any
  • Year of manufacture: useful for vintage pieces
  • Country of origin: required for some insurance submissions
  • Maker / Designer: brand or named designer

Tips

  • Write the description in the customer's voice. Imagine they need to recognise the item from the certificate alone.
  • Avoid promotional language. The certificate is a professional document.
  • Include any provenance or documentation you've sighted ("Original receipt from Tiffany & Co. dated 2018, sighted").
