Gemstone specifications
Coloured stones, pearls and opals each get their own fields on the Jewellery Details step once you choose the main stone's type.
Stone type
Ruby, sapphire and emerald, a long list of other gemstones from alexandrite to zircon, organic gems such as amber and coral, and moissanite and cubic zirconia. Choose Other if the stone isn't listed.
Coloured gemstones
- Carat weight, Shape and Measurements
- Origin: Natural, Lab Grown, Treated / Enhanced, Simulant or Unknown
- Geographic origin, for example Burma / Myanmar, Kashmir, Ceylon / Sri Lanka or Colombia
- Treatment: None (Untreated), Heat Treatment, Oil / Resin Filling, Irradiation, Fracture Filling, Diffusion Treatment, Surface Coating, Dyeing, Bleaching, Laser Drilling, HPHT or Unknown
- Phenomenon, such as asterism (star), chatoyancy (cat's eye) or colour change
Pearls
Pearl type (Akoya, South Sea, Tahitian, Freshwater, Keshi and others), shape, body colour, overtone, lustre, surface quality, nacre thickness, size in millimetres, matching grade, orient, and for strands the length and number of strands.
Opals
Opal type (black, white, crystal, boulder, fire, matrix, doublet or triplet), body tone from N1 to N9, brilliance, pattern and play of colour.
Lab report
Choose the lab — GRS, Gübelin, SSEF, AGL and others are listed — and enter the report number.
